Tom's Tips

How Not To Let Your Fearlessness Go Too Far! Here are 3 of Tom’s Tips from this article in COSMO:
  • You’re Being Pulled Into A Car – “This guy intends to hurt you and plans to take you to an isolated spot to do so,” explains safety expert Tom Patire. “So you need to struggle hard to break free and run. Once you’re in that car, your chance of survival decreases dramatically.” If you manage to get more than 25 feet away from the would-be abductor, the majority won’t bother pursuing you.
  • Someone Tries To Drag You Behind A Building Or Down An Alley – Immediately try to get the attention of someone by yelling “Help! Stop grabbing me!” in the loudest, most assertive voice you can manage. Then kick, scream, and struggle to break free of his grasp. “Make it clear from the moment he grabs you that you’re no easy target,” says Patire.
  • Try To Talk Your Way Out Of Trouble – “Use one-word answers and when you need to say more, keep it short and specific,” Patire says. “Plus, always look him in the face and pretend that you’re calm and confident, even if you aren’t inside, so he trusts you won’t scream or do something irrational.”
